Matte Glaze Stoneware
The 30s and 40s at the pottery are of some significance to not just McCoy collectors but the art pottery world in general. During this era the iconic "Leaves and Berries" pattern and many others were developed by Walter Bauer, who's designs are well known with designers and art pottery lovers all over. His designs helped McCoy refocus from utility wares to artware.
In the mid 1930's McCoy would hire Sydney Cope.... forever changing the pottery we all know and love.
The following gallery contains some of Mr. Bauer's work and more... an epic line of mainly 4 or 5 colors but dozens of shapes and sizes. It is little wonder that these pieces adorn the homes of so many collectors!
